Note: st3, 1943, shortly after midnight. Death was due to the infirmities of advanced age. Jennie Catherine Varner was the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (McMullen) Parson. She was born in Shade Valley on November19, 1859, hence was aged at the time of death 83 years, 8 months and14 days. Of a family of eight children she is the last surviving member. Four children preceded her in death. Twelve grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren survive. Having spent her entire life in Orbisonia and vicinity Mrs. Varner was well known and will be sadly missed by many friends. She was a good mother and a kind neighbor and much of her life was spent in helping others. She was a member of the United Brethren Church of Orbisonia. The funeral service will be held at the late home on Friday, August 6, at 2 p.m., the Rev. Edward Wilson, pastor of the United Brethren Church, officiating. Friends may call at the late home after 6 o'clock Wednesday evening. Interment will be made in the Orbisonia Cemetery by Ott's Funeral service.
