Notes
a. Note:   rt B. Jones Robert B. Jones, of Nossville, Huntingdon county, Pa., died Dec.5, 1899, aged 68 years, 1 mo., 4 days. On Dec. 5th he ate his dinner with his family as usual, after which he made the remark that he had eaten heartily. He started to drive his cattle to water, and when about fifty yards from the house he fell, stricken with paralysis, from which he never rallied. No one saw him fall except a small grandson about five years old, who gave the alarm. When the family came upon the scene he told them that he had a severe pain at his heart; and that it was all over with him, and with these words he died. There was no one at home but one daughter and grandson and his aged and invalid wife. His daughter ran over a mile to town to get men to carry the lifeless body to the house where but a few moments before it had left as healthy apparently as could be. He was a large muscular man and no one expected so sudden a death of one so apparently healthy. He was converted and joined the M.E. church in 1864, and had been a consistent member ever since. He has 4 sisters and 1 brother living of 16 of a family. They were a family of long livers, living to the age of 70 and 80 years. He is survived by his aged wife who was two months his senior, and 13 children, twelve of which were at his funeral. One son, Taylor Jones, left home in 1880, and in 1882 he wrote to them at home from Galesburg, Ill, saying that he was going to Colorado, and not to write until they would hear from him. Never a word to this day has been heard of him. The names of the children are Mrs. W.A. Price, of Shade Gap; Mrs. Clara Vaughan, Shade Valley; Mrs. Mary McGee, Shade Gap; Mrs. John H. Foreman and Mrs. Joseph Longacre, of Mt. Union; Mrs. Louretta Jeffries, Mrs. Charlotte Rouse and Mrs. Linnie Schmittle, of Nossville; Walker of Burcyrus, Ohio; John, Norman and Thomas Jones, of Nossville. He was a kind father and loving husband. He was generous to a fault; never was anyone turned from his door hungry; he always took pleasure in helping some one through his dreary world. He was a good neighbor and a useful citizen. His friends were many and his enemies few. His whole life was spent on his farm near Nossville, where his highest ambition seemed to be, a good Christian man and useful citizen. He was an uncle of the late Dr. Z.T. Jones, of Shade Gap. Funeral services were held in the M.E. church on Thursday by Rev. Norcross, his pastor, after which the body was laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery in the rear of the church in Shade Gap, there to await the sounding of the trumpet on the Great Day. May we profit by his example and so live in this world that when the ?Roll is called up yonder we?ll be there.? The whole community sympathize with the bereaved wife and family.
