a. Note:   yder, one of Mount Union's best known and highly respect ed citizens, died Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, death following an ill ness of one week due to pneumonia. His death followed closely that of h is mother, Mrs. James K. Snyder, who died on Dec. 21, of the same diseas e. Mr. Snyder was the oldest of the family of James K. and Margaret (Ferr enberg) Snyder and his death was the first in a family of eleven childre n. He was born in Franklin county on Dec. 31, 1868. At the time of the d eath of his mother, she had 149 descendents. He was united in marriage wi th Miss Effie Kelley of Latrobe on April 29, 1896. Surviving are his wi fe and these children: Lillian, wife of Herman Reck, Wilbur R., Ralph J ., and Ruth, wife of Nelson Bare, all of Mount Union, Grace and Howar d, at home, Mary, wife of Frank Goodhart of Lancaster, and Lawrence of Mil ton and fifteen grandchildren. Also surviving are these brothers and sist ers; Enzie and Harvey Snyder and Mrs. Carrie Bare of Mount Union, Clarenc e, Chalmer, Newton, Norman, Ida, wife of Samuel Price, Bertha, wife of Wil liam Price, all of Shade Gap, and Blance, wife of Paul Sugarts of Mifflint own. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Snyder resided in Shade Gap f or two years, then moved to Latrobe where they resided for fourteen yea rs and then returned to Mount Union where they resided since. Mr. Snyd er was identified with the Harbison-Walker Refractories company for many y ears. He was a member of the Methodist church and was a consistent and ex emplary church worker and much interested in the community and was wide ly known for his kindly deeds. Funeral services will be conducted Saturd ay afternoon as 2 o'clock in the Allenport Methodist church in charge of t he pastor, Rev. M. S. Q. Mellott. Interment will be made in the Pleasa nt Hill cemetery.
