Note: Obituary - DIED Mrs. Harriett P. Landis died at her home in township of Holly, Friday July 9th, 1886 at 10 pm. Harriett P. Bissell was born in the State of New York, Genesee County town of Richmond Feb 15th, 1824. In September 1831, with her parents she moved to Troy, Oakland County, Michigan and lived there until about the year of 1837 then moved to Pontiac, her parents both passing away there,leaving a family of eight children, six daughters and two sons, but two are now left. Mrs N. M. Martin of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Peter Hughes of Saginaw City. On the 22nd day of Aug 1841, she was married to Samuel Barrett in Feb 1846 was left a widow with two sons.on the 6 day of Jan. 1853 was married to J.H.Landis in the township of Waterford. On the 20th day of April 1856 they settled on a piece of land in the township of Holly, where their present home is, felling the the sturdy oak for a place to set their log cabin and here that labored side by side to procure a home for themselves and children. About three years ago her health began to fail and slowly but surely disease did its work; paralysis of the heart finished the work July 9th 1886 when God in his great wisdom saw fit to relieve her of suffering and toil. She leaves a husband, three sons and one daughter, with a host of friends to mourn her loss. She was loved in the community for her kindly graces and for her many deeds of kindness to any who were in need. She died with a hope in Christ. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. E. B. Bandcroft at her home, Monday July 12th. She is interred at Lakeside cemetery in Holly.
