a. Note:   Was a farmer who spent most of his time digging roots and drying herbs which were used and sold for making medicines. He was a miner, and while mining for gold,discovered pyrite. Pyrite was used for making gun powder during The War for Southern Independence. The area that he was mining was later named Pyriton. Pyriton became a thriving mining town, with a train depot, a post office, a doctor, a hotel and at least two stores that accomodated the miners that moved to the area.
 Served as a Private in Company E, 31st Infantry of the Confederate Army. Enlisted 04.12.1862 @@ Flat Rock,Alabama and was discharged 10.01.1862 @@ Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. He served under Capt. George Watts
