Notes
a. Note:   Notes for ISAAC CARTER: Isaac Carter, son of Isaac Carter (1790-1854) (Vol.IV), was born May 17, 1832 in that part of Appling County later cut into Pierce County and still later into Bacon County, Georgia. He married Nancy E. Harrison, the daughter of Richard Harrison. She was born August 18, 1851. Mr. Carter spent his entire life in the community where he was born other than the years he served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He enlisted October 10, 1861 serving in Company "K", 2nd Regiment, lst Brigade Georgia State Troops, until mustered out in April of 1862. He then enlisted in Company "B", 54th Regiment, Georgia Infantry, April 26, 1862. The exact date of his discharge is not known, but he was on the company records in 1863. He was a farmer and cattleman and lived on his farm about one mile from the place of his birth. Mr. and Mrs. Carter gave the land for a church and cemetery that today is Friendship United Methodist Church and cemetery. Isaac Carter died in 1907 and his wife, Nancy, died April 24, 1935. Both are buried at Friendship as are several of their children and grandchildren.
