Note:   In the book entitled, Descendants of James Goodwin, by Elizabeth Idella Blocker Goodwin and Floyd Alister Goodwin, is found the following information: 'According to family tradition, it is said that before the Rovolution a Jesse Carter, his younger brother John and John's son, Jack, came to Colleton county from Rockingham county, N. C. The tradition further states that Jack Carter married and had a son also named Jack who was the father of Sennie (Carter) Goodwin. It is known that Jack Carter, the father of Sennie, first lived across the Salkehatchie from James Goodwin and later moved farther down the river. It is suspected that the father of Jesse and John Carter may have been originally from Virginia...
