Note: Mills. After his graduation in December 1877, he entered the law offices of Gilbert A. Davis(author of the history of Reading, Vermont), at Felchville ( Reading), Vermont, where he read until June 1880. In August of 1880 he removed to the stateof Iowa (where two uncles, Orwell and Ransom lived) and in the fall of that year entered the Law Department of the State University of Iowa, graduating in June 1881 with the degree of LL.B. and was immediately admitted to the the bar in theStete of Iowa. He opened a law office in Grundy City and was elected Justice of Peasce in 1882 which he held for two years. In 1884 he formed a partnership with A.N. Wood, in 1886 was elected County Attorney for Grundy County which he held fortwo years.In the fall of 1892 removed to Redlands,CA where he practiced law, engaged in orange growing, and bought and sold real estate.
Note: Charles F. Bailey, probably the first Bailey of our family to attend college, was born in Reading, Vermont in 1857 and lived at home until 1873 when he entered the Green Mountains Perkins Academy, at S.Woodstock near their home at Beiley's
