Note: divided in founding the town of Baileyville,Ill. The three sisters of the family came west and while one cared for the home the other two taught school and the three boys worked their farms. Orwell married "wealthy"* Maria Rogers, 16 Feb., 1855in Vermont. They had 5 children - Charles H(of Grundy Ctr), Frank D (of CF),Warren (died in Beaman, IA in 1897), George O. ( of Holland ,IA) and Eugene L.(of Grundy Ctr.). Orwell and Maria moved to a farm in Grundy County,IA in 1875, then toHolland, IA in 1888 where Maria died 6 June, 1898. Orwell then moved to Morrison,IA in 1903 where he died. Surviving were a sister, Mrs. Truman Patee of Morrison, two brothers, George of Vermont and Samuel Jr.of Wichita, KA, his four children,14 grandchildren and 2 great grand children. Orwell was one of the largest land owners in Grundy County, a pioneer of exceptional business ability. Ref - Obituary taken from S. O. Bailey scrap book.*Not sure this was a name or economic status.!
Note: At 18 yrs. started working for a Mr.Jarvis, Weathersfield Bow, VT for 3 yrs, next to Talcott, Rockton, Ill. for 3 yrs, purchased a large tract of Government land in Ill. in 1847 which he and two of his younger brothers, Ransom and Samuel Jr.,
