Note: grandson, JoeBill White. The will was probated 2 Jun 1911. Laura was listed on the 1910 census living with JoeBill White. She would have died some time between 1910 and 2 Jun 1911 (the date the will was probated.) BIOGRAPHY: From the Surry Co. Heritage Book Vol. 2, written by Mrs. Bertha Jackson Foster: BIOGRAPHY: "Everyone said Laura jackson, called "Granny" by friends and relatives alike, was half American Indian. My mother saw her once or twice and she said she looked Indian. She said Granny was dark complected with wrinkles and dark eyes. Her daughter, Sarah, got the Indian look with dark hair and eyes and was dark complected. I have found no record to date to prove Laura was part Indian. In those days people who married "half breeds" as they were called, wer "looked down on", so they just didn't tell people if they were part Indian or not." BIOGRAPHY: "Granny (Laura) Jackson lived with Jobill White and his family when she was old (see 1910 census)" Death: From the Surry Co. Heritage Book, Vol. 2, written by Mrs. Bertha Jackson Foster: Death: "Laura is shown on 1900 census as head of household and born Sept 1826, owned farm. Joe B. White, Grandson, b. Dec 1887 was the only person living with her." Death: Bertha Jackson Foster also writes: Death: "Laura Jackson made a will dated 9 Sept 1907 leaving everything to Jobill White. That's how the Jim (James H.) Jackson bible got inot the White Family (in Ashman Family now). Laura's will probated 2 June 1911. Don't know the exact date of her death or where she's buried, but know she died between date of census 1910 and date of probate 2 June 1911."
