Notes
a. Note:   lve. HELP! Belle was born Dec 23, 1863 in Henry Co, KY. Oral history says mother was Elizabeth Dougherty, born Jan 28, 1830 in Ripley Co. IN. On Elizabeth's Henry Co. marriage license, July 18, 1863 to Wilhelm Kupferschmidt, her name appears to be "Book", second marriage for both parties. Her age is given as 27, should be 30. Belle was born 6 months after wedding. Kupferschmidt is spelled 3 different ways in same document. Elizabeth brought 2 daughters, Annie born in 1861 & Mollie born in 1856, both in Indiana. I have not found any marriage or birth in IN that fits. W. K.'s first wife died in July 1862. Elizabeth died in 1879. Minnie was born in 1882. A Minnie is listed on 1880 census, age either 0 or 6. Who is Belle's father? Who was Elizabeth's first husband? Could he have died in Civil War? Oral history says that Belle and Minnie's name was Onan, a common name in Henry County. Both listed name as Coppersmith on marriage licenses. Belle & Jasper Baker had a son in 1889 in Madison, IN listed as 3rd child of mother. They married in 1891. Minnie married Jasper's son Jesse in Vevay, IN March 26, 1897. She listed her mother as Belle Coppersmith, her father as William Coppersmith, her birth as 16 Feb 1882. Neither Belle nor Minnie is listed in 1887 history of Kentucky as one of Kupferschmidt's 13 children.
Note:   Belle Coppersmith and her daughter Minnie present a mystery which I have not been able to so
