Preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosa Bianca (nee Mercurio). Devoted father of seven: Maria (Natale) Saggio, Paola (Giuseppe) Alioto, Francesca (Pietro) Norante, Antonino (Karen), Vincenzo (Susan), Pietra Sanger and Ted (Jill). Matteo was an adoring grandfather to 19 and doting great-grandfather to 18. His brothers and sister, Sam, Placido and Francesca Lupo, also preceded him in death. Matteo leaves behind his brother and sisters-in-laws, Dorotea (Tarantino), Domenico (Mercurio) and Pietra (Crivello), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Matteo was the oldest member of the Maria S.S. del Lume Society, and Italian church group honoing the patron saint of Porticello, Sicily. Matteo served in the Italian Navy prior to immigrating to the United States, where he became a citizen. He worked a number of years for the Milwaukee Road, in Wisconsin. Funeral Wed., Feb. 27, at the funeral home at 10 AM processing to St. Augustine of Hippo (2530 S. Howell Ave., Milwaukee) for 10:30 AM mass. Entombment St. Adalbert's Cemetery.
