Notes
a. Note:   Brother of Robert May Jr. Notes on establishing relationship: * Note O. G. May living with William in 1850 USFC. * Note that William leaves "Osker May of California" money in his will * Note that Robert May is listed as granting assent to William's will as "the only heir-at-law," which, barring the survivorship of the brothers' parents, would most likely make Robert his sibling. (This assent paperwork has not yet been found.) According to paperwork filed 02 Nov 1896, William had a will signed on 27 Jan 1896. The will leaves his money to his second wife Lucinda ? May, as well as money to his grand-daughter Mary Newton, and his daughter Anna J. May Newton. *** From "Historical Wyoming County January 1853" (online at FultonHistory.com): "An interesting note apears in the church record [Covington Methodist Church--jjr], which tells its own story: "William May resigned in 1895, having been cleark of the board of trustees, continuously, for 45 years. He died on the 19th of Sept. 1896, at the good age of 83 years, 8 mos. 6 days. (signed) F. B. Kendall." ***
