a. Note:   Katherine was 5 years old when her father disappeared. After William Haley disappeared her mother sent her to live with an Aunt, her name was Nora Cronin McGovern. She was Brought up by Nora and Terrance McGovern in St. Paul MN. They had 11 boys and 1 girl. When Katherine was 16 she went back to see her mother, Mary Jane Cronin and taught school in Glenco North Dakota. Katherine Haley was 19 when she married Frederick, he was 23 years old. She taught school in Glenco North Dakota.
 Katherine had two brothers and two step-brothers and one step sister. William Haley, the oldest son. William Haley Jr. married Liz and had two daughters, Gertrude and Florence. The second son of Mary Jane Cronin was John Haley, he was crippled and had a hunchback after breaking his back.
 Katherine lost her first three children and her half brother Tom Kelly to Scarlet Fever in 1897.
