  Charity Saluda 'Luda' Higginbotham Nesom Decker is listed as widowed on the 1900 Latham's E. Feliciana Parish, LA Census; Charlena Nesom from her 1st marriage is 9; Edwin H. Decker, son from her marriage to Jesse D. Decker, is 4. They are living with her father Ira and his 2nd wife Flora.
 However, Jesse D. Decker is alive and well on the 1900 E. Feliciana Parish, LA Census; living in Jackson, and employed as a ward attendant for the Jackson Insane Asylum, he listed himself as D(ivorced). Her 1st husband, Charles Nelson Nesom, father of Charlena, did not die until 1931 in Rapides Parish, LA.
