Notes
a. Note:   Educated by the Sisters of Mercy, the Dominican Nuns, and the Christian Brothers in Dunedin. he obtained admission to the Novitiate of the Christian Brothers at Strathfield, Sydney, Australia. Once he had finished his preliminary training he taught for a short time at St. Mary's Catholic School in Sydney before moving to St. Kilda. In early 1928 he moved to Melbourne where he was located to SS. Peter and Paul's School, South Melbourne. According to family story it was in Melbourne that his mother and father visited him for a short time, a none too insignificant journey for the day. It is said that he was his mothers favorite. However upon their return to New Zealand they received word that he had died of Meningitis, heartbreaking news for them both.
