a. Note:   According to Knut S. Vikør (knut.vikor@smi.uib.no), Professor at the University of Bergen, Amund was one of eight children in all. According to the Professor, "Amund, according to the Kvam families book, left to Bergen and worked in the storehouse of the Riiber furrier there. That is what the Kvam history says. "Oddmund" was often rendered as Amund, so that is no doubt your ancestor Amund Wigøren, as above, who is also listed as working in a furrier's shop (skindforretning), b. 1832 in Vikør. The spelling in your listing is both Vikør (a modern spelling) and Wigøren. I suspect the latter is a mistake, and should be Wigør; the "en" ending is not a natural addition, but is a separate and more common name from Sogn as I mentioned, with different roots. He may have been careless enough himself, but it is more likely a clerk made the error. It happens all the time to us, still. Anyway, it may have followed his family entry."
