a. Note:   Dr. Tanner was a Nose and Throat Specialist and Surgeon. Family lore stated she graduated from Medical School in Texas but the school had a fire and lost her records, so when she moved to Philadelphia, the Commonwealth of PA could not verify her certification and she went through medical school a second time at the Women's Medical College of PA (today the Medical College of Pennsylvania). We have photos labelled her graduation from Bennett Medical College (which today is the Medical College at Loyola University in Chicago), but we also know that she was married in Texas and her brother was a Dr. on the Mexican border. I suspect that she did her first MD at Loyala but was an intern/resident with her brother in Texas.
