Notes
a. Note:   In the November 1837 1st Dunboe Communicants list in the 1st Dunboe Church Records in Articlave, Northern Ireland, there is a name that looks like (hard to read) Robert Tanner. This would be a good match (assuming children made their first communion back then around the same age they do today). In the 1860 census, he is believed to be the Robert Tanner living with a wife Elizabeth and 4 children (Mary, William, Elizabeth and John) in Philadelphia, PA. According to a civil war card on file with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, a Robert Tanner from Summit Hill, PA enrolled in Mauch Chunk, PA and was mustered in on April 22, 1861. It gave his age at enrollment as 28. He is listed as desserting at "Suffolk Park near Philadelphia" on May 7, 1861. He was listed as joining Company A of the 6th Infantry. That must only have been temprorary since he is also listed as receiving an honorable discharge from Captain Pardee's company, 147th PA Regiment. It’s unclear what happens to him next. He does not appear in the 1870 census, nor does his wife or daughters. His sons William and John appear to be living with they grandfather Tanner, and their Aunt Mary Ann Tanner Moore and her family.
