a. Note:   Anna Suplee told William Dunne that William Dolan was the first Dolan to come to Norwich. William was a blacksmith and had a shop on East Main Street, east of city hall. He built a house at 69 Canasawacta where he died. He was born in Ireland but came to America in 1866, stopping in Albany for a few months. He came to Norwich in November of that year. In the 1889 Business Directory he is associated with Terwilliger & Dolan, blacksmiths.
