Peleg Moon moved to New York sometime after 1778, from Rhode Island. Exeter, Rhode Island, Town Council and probate Book #3, 1764 - 1776, Page 164, Exeter Town Council Meeting, Jan 10 1775. " Ordered that a letter of administration to be granted to Peleg Moon of Exeter in Kings County, on the personal estate of William Moon deceased, who was son of the said Peleg Moon, Peleg Moon, he complying with the law, the bond to be given for 60 pounds. ( William Moon could have died in 1774 ) Peleg and family moved to New York after 1778.
