Note: His baptism sponsors were Charles and Gertrude Skahan. George was hit by a baseball in the stomach which later turned into something more serious when the local doctor botched his care. He died before they could get him to the hospital, and according to Leone Boyden Cumber, the local doctor could never look anyone in their family in the face again.
