Notes
a. Note:   According to the chapter on the history of Preston, NY in the History of Chenango County by James H. Smith (1880), one of the first settlers in Preston, “Asa FANNING, a Revolutionary soldier, and a brother-in-law of David ECCLESTON's, came in from the New England States, and settled about a mile south-east of Preston Corners, where Patrick CASEY now lives, and died there..." Anna Suplee told James Dunne that his farm was near County Home. He first emmigrated with his sister Anna "now Mrs. Michael Walsh of State Street, this village" (according to the Morning Sun Newspaper) at Springfield, Otsego County. He later lived in Mt. Upton and moved to Preston around 1878. According to the "St. Paul's Parish, The First Century" book, he and Rose had 10 children but only 7 were alive at his death. I have only located records for the birth of 8 children. Interestingly, the St. Paul's records list another Patrick Casey as buried in this plot but with no date information. This could be another son. Patrick donated the stained glass window on the right of the alter (if facing the alter from the pews) to St. Paul's church in Norwich, NY and the window bears his name.
