Notes

Note: There is some speculation that his first name was not Herbert but Hubert . His middle initial has also appeared as both an O and an I but it was thought to have been correctly an O for Olen. The 1902 Chenango Co. Directory lists "BOYDEN, Herbert I, (mailing addr. Norwich) lived off road 58, dairy w/12 cows, farmer on 180 acres". In the records of St. Paul's Church in Norwich, it also lists an Elizabeth and William Boyden as buried in the family plot in St. Paul’s Cemetery. No one in the family is aware of these two nor are they found in any records. They were not born to Herbert and Kittie as far as anyone in the family knows, and certainly were not born before 1910 to them because in the 1910 census they said they had 6 children, 4 of whom were still living, and all 6 are otherwise accounted for.
