Note: According to all available sources, Bradford appears to have been born somewhere in New York state. According to his son Murray's death entry in Smyrna records, Murray's father was born in New York. A photocopy of a book "A Little of Everything" by B. A. Boyden is passed through the family and states on the cover "Ithaca, NY 1844". Ithaca is in Tomkins County, NY. He also married a woman from Cortland County, NY. Other than these clues, we do not know much about where in New York he spent his early life. According to his gravestone, he was born Jun. 4, 1822.
