Note: TANNER, William Ernest "Bill" - 74, Beaver Bank, formerly of South River Bourgeois, Cape Breton, passed away at home Wednesday, March 19, 2008. Born in Halifax on May 4, 1933, he was a son of the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Vaters) Tanner. He retired from the RCAF with the rank of Warrant Officer. He is survived by his wife, the former Monika Knoth, Gabriola Island, B.C.; sons, Rob (Michelle Mayne), Hackett's Cove; Gordon, Sayward, B.C.; granddaughters, Brittany and Hilary, Hackett's Cove; brothers, Douglas (Shirley), Halifax; Gerald (Sheena), Halifax; Bernard (Bernice), Wilmot; sisters, Betty (Edward Rice), Weymouth; Helen (David Udle), Ben Eoin; Susan (Wayne Leslie), Halifax; Linda (Anthony Pottie), Dutch Settlement; Marilyn (Robert MacEachern), Sydney. He is also survived by special nephews, Douglas Jr., William and Kenneth, as well as several more nieces and nephews. Bill had several close friends and will be missed dearly. He was predeceased by brother, Ernest Jr., and sister, Patricia (Keith Fougere). In accordance with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or memorial service. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to the SPCA or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
