Note:   COLLIER, William Geoffrey "Bill" - 72, Shad Bay, passed away Monday, March 22, 1999, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Shad Bay, he was a son of the late John Geoffrey and Catherine Ann "Kate" (Hutchison) Collier. Bill served with the Halifax City Policy Department as sergeant before joining the IWK Children's Hospital in 1970 as director of Security. Following his retirement in 1991, he volunteered for the hospital with the auxiliary and especially loved serving at "Doc's Dogs" during the "Kermesse". For over 20 years, he played Santa on Christmas Eve to the children staying in the IWK. He was awarded an honarary life membership to the IWK board of directors in recognition of his volunteer efforts. He was also an avid carpenter and outdoors man. Bill will be greatly missed by his many dear friends and his surviving family: son, Chris and his wife Pam, Shad Bay; brothers Robert and wife Doris, Shad Bay; Fred and his wife Joan, Bayside; Jeff and his wife Gail and their son, Geoffrey, Bayside; sister, Margaret (Mrs. Grant Dunbar), White's Lake, and sister-in-law, Alma, Toronto. He was predeceased by his brother Frank (Toronto) and brother-in-law Grant (White's Lake). Visitation will take place at J. Albert Walker's Funeral Home, Spryfield, today from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Church, Shad Bay, Rev. Len Fischer officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Shad Bay. Family flowers only please. In lieu, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Cancer Society [Reel 9987 -- obit Mar 24 / 99 --pg. 29 / C3]
