He was 57 years of age. Mr. Holland was well known in the city and his passing will be felt with widespread regret by the many friends who know him. He had been in ill health since last April. He is survived by his wife, six sons, Bernard, Paul, Christopher, Jerome, Cecil and Gerard Holland, all of Halifax; two daughters, Elizabeth and Theresa Holland at home; one sister, Mrs. Jack Gillies, of Charlottetown, and five grandchildren. The remains are resting at the Halifax Funeral Home, 90 Dresden Row, and the funeral services will be held Saturday in time for 9 a.m. Requiem Mass at St. Agnes Church. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery [January 20, 1949, pg. 14]
