Note:   Stevenson, William Leslie (Bill) - 73, 1333 South Park St., Halifax, died April 29, 1996, in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Port aux Basques, Nfld., he was a son of the late Capt. Lorenzo and Mary (Wiseman) Stevenson. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1941 and served as anti submarine operator (sonar) until 1961. He served on the following HMC ships and establishments: Naden, Stadacona, Hochelaga, Cornwallis, Niobe, Port Hope, Montreal, Puncher, Warrior, Micmac, Nootka, Swansea, Haida, Huron, Iroquois, Wallaceburg, Prestonian, and Algonquin. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Atlantic Chief and Petty Officer's Association. After service with the Navy he was employed by the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires as a Warrant Officer First Class from 1964 until his death. Surviving are son, Robert, Halifax; sister, Mrs. Irene Moore, Halifax; brother, James, North Sydney; grandson, Robert, Halifax; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Christina Tanner; sister, Olive Murphy; brother, Robert. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, memorial service 2 p.m. Thursday, both in Snow's Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
