Note: Slaunwhite, Gerald Rufus - 66, Terence Bay, died Monday in Victoria General Hospital. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Rufus and Sadie (Spares) Slaunwhite. He ewas a veteran of the Second World War serving with the RCVR from 1942 - 45. He was a former member of Department of National defence fire department. He was an employee of Irving Oil and Historic Properties until retirement. He is survived by his wife, the former Glenna Sanford; five daughters, Haether, Sherri Russell, both of Terence Bay; Wanda Davis, Prospect Bay; Leanne, Halifax; Andrea, Eastern Passage; two brothers, Edgar, John (Jack), both of Terence Bay; a sister, Anna (Mrs. Mahlan Harrie), Terence Bay; five grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald, Harry; a sister, Mayme in unfancy. The body is in J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax, visiting 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Star of the Sea Church, Terence Bay, Rev. James Richard officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or any charity.
