Notes
a. Note:   FORMATION OBTAINED FROM HIS BIRTH AND DEATH CERTIFICATES; AND A CHRISTENING CERTIFICATE OBTAINED FROM THE ST IGNATIUS MISSION. A FLATHEAD INDIAN BY BIRTH ON HIS MOTHER'S SIDE, AND GERMAN BY BIRTH ON HIS FATHER'S SIDE, HIS YOUTH MARKED AN ERA OF RICH TRADITION ON THE FLATHEAD INDIAN RESERVATION. HE SPENT HIS LAST YEARS OF HIGH SCHOOL, HOWEVER, IN PORT ANGELES WASHINGTON LIVING WITH A COUSIN. IMMEDIATELY AFTER GRADUATION FROM HIGH SCHOOL, HE WAS INDUCTED INTO THE ARMY AND FOUGHT DURING WWII IN BURMA AND CHINA. 21 Jul 1989. The time is 4PM. I'm sitting in a bus terminal located at Yongsan Army Barracks in SEoul Korea. Mary, Brad, Leslie, Bob and Mike are visiting the SEoul Grand Park. It's a Disneyland style amusement park. We took a bus up from Osan AB this morning. They headed to the park (Mary didn't feel comfortable leaving them alone or with strangers while we both went to the temple). I took a cab to the Seoul Temple arriving about 10AM. After a short interview with Pres Palmer, the temple president, a schedule was arranged to perform the baptism, confirmation, initiatory and endowment all in one visit. Actually all was completed by 11AM except the endowment. I waited for the 1:30PM session. Sealing to Dad's parents will occur later. I tried really hard to make some sort of contact with Dad today. I'm sure he appreciated the effort, but I desired some confirmation he would accept the work done. Alas, I received no strong feelings on his part. However, on my part it was a very emotional event. I shall always remember my feelings as I entered the Celestial Room. I really miss my Dad and am so glad separations like this aren't permanent. Hopefully J will stimulate some interest in my motherwho is still living. It would be nice to complete the family circle before she dies.
Note:   DAD WAS A SUPERVISOR IN A PAPERMILL IN TACOMA WASHINGTON FOR OVER THIRTY YEARS. HE SUCCUMBED TO CANCER OF THE THROAT AFTER A LONG ILLNESS WHICH INCLUDED SURGERY TO REMOVE HIS LARYNX. GENEALOGICAL IN
