After he left school he worked for some time with Uncle Albert at Hay but sunsequently worked in the Mallee. He Married Lavinia Carter and at the outbreak of the war I think, was the Post Master at Turriff. They had one little girl, Linda, who died when he was away at the war. He and his brother Ted (?Keith) enlisted together in the 23rd Battalion. They saw a lot fo fighting in France. Indeed, Keith said that roy saw more front line service than he did. On his return, Roy had a block at Irymple and subsequently took up a soldier settlement block at Woorinen when that area was opened up. He gave up the block later and ran the Woorinen South Post Office (2)until he died when Ada took over as postmistress.
