a. Note:   Alvin completed public school in Roland, and the last two years of High School in Boissevain, joining the Royal Bank of Canada at the age of 15 as a junior clerk. Prior to enlisting in the RCAF in 1942, he worked in Boissevain 1929-1934, Killarney, Manitoba to 1936, Port Arthur to 1937 and then to Montreal in 1937. On July 15, 1940 he and Margaret Ella Boles of Deloraine, Manitoba, were married in St. Lukes United CHurch in Notre Dame de Grace, Montreal, P.Q. Margaret`s father, Henry George Boles, was born on the farm adjacent to the historic Crysler`s famr near Aultsville, Ontario on September 15, 1877 The second son of John Thomas Boles and Hanna Pollock, he moved to Deloraine, Manitoba in 1896, he and his brother Orin conducting a draying business until he became the Imperial Oil agent and auditor in 1912. THat year he and Nellie Olive Perry were married. She was the youngest daughter of Andrew Perry, and was born on March 16, 1884 at Blenheim, Ontario. She died on November 3, 1971. Both parents are interred in Deloraine cemetery. Margaret and Alvin remained in Montreal until 1941, when he was transferred to Cornwall, Ontario. In May 1942 he enlisted in the RCAF and was stationed at Lachine Manning Pool, Then to Moncton on tarmac duty, Belleville ITS, No. 1 AOS Malton in January 1943, No. 1 CNS, Rivers after graduation and then to No. 5 AOS Winnipeg in August 1943 as a Navigation Instructor. He received his discharge as a Flying Officer in February 1945. As his total war service was in Canada, Margaret accompanied him on most postings. After his discharge he returned to the bank in Montreal and was subsequently employed at Ottawa, Montreal, Outremont, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and finally back to Montreal, retiring in May 1974. Book of Wilton II, pgs 34-35 Until their deaths in 1995 (Margaret) and 2001 (Alvin) (sic), they continued to enjoy retirment and kept fairly busy. Marg with her music, church, charitable and bridge activities and Al with gardening, fishing, golfing and various hobbies; together they found time for the odd trip and winter vacation in Arizona...it was a great life. Obituary ALVIN GOHL (published in The Winnipeg Free Press on July 14, 2001) W. ALVIN GOHL W. Alvin Gohl, late of White Rock, BC, born September 5, 1913, passed away June 29, 2001. Alvin is predeceased by his wife, Margaret; and a brother James. He is survived and sadly missed by his children, Blair (Lynn) of Delta, BC and Patricia Sapielak of Abbotsford, BC; grandchildren, Christina and Matthew; brother, Ronald; sisters,Gwendolyn Goodman, Muriel Wyman and Katherine Lee; and dear friend Olive Norman. Al served in the RCAF during the Second World War. He enjoyed a long, successful career with the Royal Bank prior to retiring in Montreal in 1974. A small family service has been held.
