Notes
a. Note:   Stanley was born at the "Graham" home located on a cross-road one mile north of Tobacco Creek. A few months earlier his parents had to "ford" the creek in order to arrive at the "Graham" and "Wilton" homesteads that Andrew Graham had secured in May 1878. Stanley received less schooling that the other members of the family because he was required to work in the fields, often following the "walking plough:' By 1907, Stanley was twenty-eight years of age and considered it was time to get married. Accordingly, by some arrangement the Wilton family assisted Stanley in purchasing two one-quarter sections of land located directly acrossthe road from the original Wilton homestead. Note:   While on the farm, Stan and Annie operated a diversified farming program and had an appreciation of a good garden and annual flowers. It was interesting that Stanley did all of his farming with horses before retiring to live in Carman in 1946.
