Note:   Taken from copy of newspaper obituary: Winnipeg Free Press; Thursday, March 24, 1983 VELMA PEARL WILTON On Tuesday, March 22, 1983 at Oakview Place, Mary Velma Pearl Wilton,aged 93 years, beloved wife of the late William Arklos Wilton of Roland and Carman, Man. Mrs. Wilton was born on February 12, 1890 in Valentia, Ontario and moved to a farm at Sperling, Manitoba with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Webster in 1899. Six years later they moved to the Bethel community where she resided until her marriage to William Wilton in 1915. Mr.and Mrs. Wilton raised their family on their farm at Roland Manitoba,retiring to Carman in 1945. Mrs. Wilton was an active member of the United Church in Roland and Carman, and a strong supporter of the W.C.T.U., W.M.S. and U.C.W. Community activities of Roland and the Uptopia school district were an important part of her life. She was predeceased by an infant son Clare and y her husband Williamin 1972. She leaves to mourn, two sons, Donald and his wife Shirley of Winnipeg, Arklos and wife Irene of Roland, daughter Mildred and husband T. Alex Matheson of Stonewall; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Active pallbearers were grandsons, William and George Matheson, Bruceand Frederick Wilton and Messrs. Richard Boyd and Robert Roddy, husbands of grand-daughters Beverley and Eileen. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 25 in Carman United Church with Rev. Eric Matheson officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery at Roland. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Carman United Church Memorial Fund, or a charity of their choice.
