Note: bMARY JOAN GILLON (ROY) Gillon, Mary Joan (nee Roy), /bage 87, passed away 08/09/2009 unexpectedly from a massive heart attack while recovering from a hip fracture. Mary Joan is survived by her five children, Bob, Alex, Cathy Anne, Margaret and Joan; 5 grand children; 9 great-grandchildren; her brother, Ross, and sister, Anne. Mary Joan was born in Quebec City, Canada in 1921. She was the first of four children. Mary Joan, nicknamed Doe by our father after a baby doe she raised, went to McGill University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1944 Mary Joan married our father, William Stanley Gillon. Mom loved Dad her entire life, through good and bad, thick and thin, and we are sure she loves him still. Many years and five children later, at age 52, Mary Joan earned her teaching credential. Until retirement, Mary Joan taught emotionally and mentally handicapped children. Mary Joan touched many lives during that 20 plus years and helped many children along on their paths in this world including her own five children. She will be greatly missed. Another of Mom's passions was her church. Mother loved St. Michael's and attended regularly until her recent illness. Our sister, Margaret drove her to church Sundays in recent years and walker or cane, rain or shine, Mom wanted to go to church. Donations in lieu of flowers to St Michael's Episcopal Church, 311 W South St., Anaheim, Ca. 92805 would please our mother very much. bPublished in Orange County Register on August 16, 2009/b
