a. Note:   �b�PEARL WILTON �/b�It is with sadness that we announce the death of Pearl Wilton (nee Compton) of Carman, on August 7,1997, at the age of 86 years. She is survived by three sons, Bob (Ev) of High Bluff, Jim (Burna) of Elora, Ont, and Dennis (Gustine) of Carman; six grandchildren, Robin, Sean (Lynn), Lori (Rob Hattle), Bronwynne (Pierre Chauvin), Megan, Geoffrey and one great-granddaughter Madeleine Chauvin. Pearl was predeceased by her husband Lloyd in 1981 and their son Alan in 1962. Pearl grew up in the Miami and Darlingford areas. After normal school she taught at rural schools at Roseisle, Treherne and Pomeroy. During these years she earned her B.A. from the U. of M. by attending summer school. In 1938 she married Lloyd Wilton. They made their home, raised their family and farmed in the Pomeroy District until 1977 when they retired to Carman. This lively, kind woman will be fondly remembered by her many friends. Her commitment to her community was demonstrated by her enthusiastic involvement in a number of organizations. She was the pianist and Sunday School teacher at Pomeroy for many years. She served as president of the Carman U.C.W., the Ladies Section of the Dufferin Agriculture Society and the Carman Health Auxiliary. Her leadership abilities spanned the generations: she led the Carman C.G.I.T. for 17 years and the senior Citizens choir for several more. Pearl's joys included her children, her grandchildren, music and being with her family and friends. We her family will miss her and invite friends and relatives to remember her outgoing and caring nature. Funeral service will be held from the Carman United Church in Carman, Man. on Saturday, August 9 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jack McLachlan officiating. Interment will take place in the family plot in Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C OS6 or to a charity of one's choice. Due to the early death of her mother, Pearl was raised by her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. John H. Wood of Miami, attending school there. She took normal school in Winnipeg and taught in rural schools at Roseisle, Treherne and Pomeroy. During these years she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba. Pearl was also interested in community affairs. She was pianist and Sunday School teacher at Pomeroy for many years. She served as president of Carman United Church women, Ladies Section of Dufferin Agricultural Society and Carman Health Auxillary. She was a C.G.I.T. leader for seventeen years.
