Note: [Antoine 3.22.2000.FTW] About 1897-98 Earl lived at Autry (Berwin), Indian Territory (Oklahoma). This was when Oklahoma was a haven for outlaws. The family owned 2 houses. Earl lived in one at the bottom of a hill. Earl & his brothers had rock fights with the kids in the house at the top of the hill. World War I service: Guarded German POW's in Paris Came home during the great flu epidemic. Remembers dead soldiers being stacked on the deck "like cord wood." A very quiet man, rarely talked around Grandma In the early 60's kept a few cows, gardened up into the 70's (along as he was able). Had a chicken house down from the house but there were no chickens there. Cattle ran in that area. Grandpa had a barrel fixed with commode insides to keep water for the cattle. Grandpa built a pond right outside the dining room window. It had a waterfall. I used to swim in it.. also Linda..
