Notes
a. Note:   Thomas was married to Mary for the duration of his life, I have the inventory when he died and his widow was Mary. I also have the return from their marriage since someone stole the original from the court house." "Thomas Job was the first born of William and Sarah Job Douthit, most of Williams children we did not know who the mother was, but Thomas they did. When William died he only left Thomas with Five shillings and his oldest grand son Ambrose 40 Pounds to given when he was to come of age. The reason William did not leave Thomas but five shillings was as he put it "In addition to what he has heretofore received from my estate and no more from my estate just the shillings" Thomas married Mary Jones in 1797 in Lincoln Co Kentucky and Mary had ten sons and three daughters. Thomas was born in North Carolina but did not stay there very long. Land documents and tax list indicate that Thomas was in Sumner Co TN on the Kentucky line and in Casey Co Jefferson and Shelby Counties between 1810 and 1833.There is a land grant assigned to Thomas in 1825 by David Douthit in Sumner TN on the west fork of Red Creek (David a doctor later became a cholera epidemic victim.) A farmer Thomas Job was shown by the census with four slaves and eight horses in 1830 by 1840 he was on the Tax list and farming on Morgan Co west central Missouri in Williow Fork township which was five years later Montieau Co,next door. His death date is reported as 1857, age 84.The children of Thomas Job and Mary Jones Douthit are Ambrose, Born 1798, William, Born 1800, Cynthia Ann, Born 1800, Dr David, Born 1804, John Presley, Born 1806, Stephen Ellis, Born Sept 27 1808, Allen G, Born 1810, Sarah Emily, Oct 18,1813 ,Green Lee, Born Feb, 23 1816, James Melville, Born Sept 05, 1818, Geo Grandison, Born March 03 1821. Several of his sons became DRs and some farmers Ambrose was in Real Estate he bought and sold land all Texas, I have several doucments that state Thomas was in the state of Missouri in 1840 He bought land in Morgan CO in 1840. I think at that time part of Montieau CO was Morgan?" --------------- Sources: 1) Eldrod Family and Allied Lines (1971) 2) Marriage records of Casey & Lincolns Cos., KY 3) Bible Record of Green L.
