a. Note:   George enlisted in the Federal Army 17 Feb 1864 as a Pvt (Film Number M390 roll 30, listed in the National Park Service records) and served in the Civil War w ith the 8th Regional Cavalry a short time before he was discharged as a Private he contracted typhoid fever, died in Little Rock, AR and was laid to rest in m ilitary cemetery there on 7 Apr 1865. He died leaving Eliza with three small ch ildren to raise, his eldest son was deceased.
