Note: Walter died in the cold waters of Lake Winnipegosis after he had broken through the ice with a dog team. This accident took place near Birch Island. Source: Mary E. Sutton (Descendents of John "Jack" Sanderson). He was out dogsledding with some male friends and he became tangled in the harness of his dog sled. The sled broke through the ice and as he was going down he waved and said "Goodbye Boys". His body was never found. Source: Florence (Mae) Sanderson as told to Trudith Ohki.
