Notes
a. Note:   Palina's parents were Thordar Erlendson and Johanna Palsdottir. Palina came from Akureyri which is a large seaport in Northern Iceland. She came to Winnipeg to visit her brother. She travelled to Mountain, North Dakota and married Jon Sigurdson in 1889. Jon had planned to farm near his brother, Indridi. Soon after their marriage they retruned to Canada and went to The Narrows to homestead. She had her five children there: Emma, Annie, Margret, Herman and Adalsteinn. She stood less than five feet tall, but didn't let this hold her back from accomplishing her tasks. She was a courageous and resourceful little woman as noted in the articles written by Emma Sigurdson, Capable of tending to her little family and the farm animals on her own in the frontier home at The Narrows. Jon and Palina spent their later years in Eriksdale near the home of their daughter Annie Forsyth. She died at the home of her daughter - Margaret Stone - in Winnipeg in 1933 at the age of 82 years. She is fondly known as "Little Grandma". Source: Articles written by Emma J.E. Sigurdson. Source: The Sigurdson Family Tree by Margaret (Peggy) Stone.
