Nat haniel was 42 and Ellen 42. In a letter from Willa Helmick the daughter of Tho mas J. she says Nathaniel was born in Va. and came from a Hugenot and Scotch family. The Hugenots came around 1650 on. She thinks his mother was a Witherspoonand came in the 1700's. Related to John Witherspoon who signed the Declaration from New Jersey. She goes on to say Nathaniel had 2 farms, one in Bridgeport that went to his son Alfred and one in Virginia that went to his so n Wesley who had 2 daughters that never married. His wife Levenia received mo ney. Nathaniel and Ellen had 2 other daughters who died as young women. Alfre d had several children. Willa only say the family once when about 8 and her G reat uncle Albert seemed to be prosperous. Bob, It took me a while to find it but finally! In John Gott's "Fauquier Co. VA Wills, Inventories and Acounts 1759-1800" pg 146: Nathaniel Dodd (Will) 5/9/1783 dau: Mildred Pinckard - one Negro girl named Catherine. There is no mention of Mildred's husband's nam e. In 1880 Census shows age 72, living with a son, John W.
