They had 10 children together. Then according to oral history in our family, Francis served in the Civil War, was wounded and came home & died of his wound. My Great Great Grandfather was working the farm in his absense. He wasOliver Sans Souci. He in turn married the widow Piette and raised allher children by Francis plus they had 5 children of their own. As each of the Piette children came of age, he paid them an inheritance forthe land, which he had taken over and land books show as having been the old San Saucie farm in Ecorse. There was a very large and beautiful house built that they all grew up in. I have photo's of the house, Henrietta & Oliver and the clan, but do not know who is who. My Great Grandfather, Richard Sans Souci always referred to the Payette's as his brothers & sisters, not as half siblings. Christopher ended up living with his sister Mary (Sans Souci )Meyer's until is death I believe. She was a wealthy widow and she, Christopher & their sister, Haddy (awidow) all lived together. Mary's old house is now the Wyandotte Yacht Club. Eventually Mary gambled away her money, after the death of her brother Richard came to live with my great Grandma Daisy(White) Sans Souci. She died in her 90's. I remembered her quite well. The old San Souci house was the oldest standing house in Michigan for a long while, and almost was declared a land mark, but unfortunately was knocked down for a shopping mall. Oliver built the house himself. Neither Francis nor Henrietta spoke English. As far as that goes, neither did Oliver Sans Souci. They all spoke French. 1850 United States Federal Census Name: Francis Pillett Age: 18 Estimated birth year: abt 1832 Birth place: Michigan Gender: Male Home in 1850 (City,County,State): Ecorse, Wayne, Michigan Page: 459 Roll: M432_366 living w parents 1860 United States Federal Census Name: Fransis Pyath Age in 1860: 28 Birthplace: Michigan Home in 1860: Ecorse, Wayne, Michigan Gender: Male Value of real estate: View image Post Office: Wyandotte Roll: M653_564 Page: 0 Year: 1860 Head of Household: Fransis Pyath Household Francis farm laborer page 45 of 61 Fransis Pyatte age 28 farm laborer Harriet age 23 housekeeper Peter age 7 Mark age 5 Adaline age 4 Mina age 2 (Celina) Florence 6/12 Database: Civil War Service Records November 14, 2003 4:30 PM Name: Francis Pyatt Company: A Unit: 8 Connecticut Infantry.
