He was in the lumber business and floated rafts down Lake Champlain, losing a raft that covered seven acres of water cost him ten thousand, causing his failure in business. He was a soldier in the War of 1812; also in the Battle of Plattsburg in 1814; moved to near Cardington, Ohio, where he died.
