Note: Terry, Thanks so much for your addition to the Potter family. My line in Hocking County is through the Morris and Sibert/Seibert clans and the Botts and Morris families married each other in quite a few generations. Your William Potter was the son of Sarah Morris, my great great grandfather's sister. Abraham, her brother, to Mary Jane, his daughter married Henry H. Sibert/Seibert, to his son Thomas Archibald Fountain Seibert, to his son Adam Henry Seibert, to my mother, Iris Theodora Seibert. I am still seaching in Hocking County for my five Sibert/Seibert Orphans, the children of Adam Sibert and Mariah Kimble, married in HockingCounty 1839, found in court records through 1846, but both died by 1850. My Henry, his brothers Adam, Jacob, and William are all found working with Samuel Harper in 1860, but cannot find them in 1850, but their possible brother, Amos (4 years old) is living with Benjamin Pitman, 48, b unk right next door to John Botts, 68, b Maryland. Do you know anything about these Pitman's or Botts? Again, thank you, Linda Ready Sarah was possibly born in Washington CO, Pa and came with her parents to Guernsey County, Ohio around 1812. She spelled her name Sally onher marriage license. Sarah Morris Bigham, Potter's Monument Unknown Brown Cemetary HockingCounty, Ohio 1830 Census: Richland Twp, Guernsey County, Ohio Samuel died in 1836 in Guernsey County, Ohio, no one knows where he is buried. Eli Bigham told the story that his father Isaac told him that Samuel had died as a result of taking an overdose of Calomel and was buried near Byesville, just south of Cambridge, Ohio. Sarah apparently moved with her parents to Hocking County, Ohio around 1838. She then married Edward Potter. 1840 Census: Ed Potter. Swan Twp, Hocking CO, Ohio 1850 Census Good Hope Twp, Hocking CO, Ohio Ed Potter and Sarah and family 1860 Census Good Hope Twp Hocking CO, Ohio 1870 Ed Potter is 73, infirm widower living next door to his son, William Good Hope Twp, Hocking, Ohio 1880 Ed is listed as 83 in Delaware, Delaware CO, Ohio as married with Elizabeth unknown (77) and Lucy Hovey age 24, listed as granddaughter and housekeeper, born in Ohio Sarah died June 30, 1870. It is noted in the Morris history that Mrs.William H. Huls in Sept., 1910 which is written on the stone, erecteda grave marker for her MOTHER, Sarah Morris Bigham Potter. Further research of William H. Huls two wives, which one of them would have beenSarah's daughter. I show a Elizabeth Weltner and Eliza Bender as his wives, Eliza Bender may have been Eliza Potter. It would show the two families very close and Mary Jane Morris sent to help after Lettie Huls death would make sense. Mary Jane would have been Sarah's niece.
