Most of the villagers know Mrs. "B" as the former editor of the Riverview Review, however, she is also an authoress to boot, having written a book of poemsentitled " Under the Firefly Lamp". It was published last year by the Comet Press. The book was inspired by Mrs. "B's" five children. She wrote these verses after s he put them in bed at night. It was rumored at one time that Mrs. Buboltz was born during an Indian attack. However, she denies this, and says she has never even beenscalped. She does hold the distinction however, of attending the first school ever built in Ecorse and upon graduation entered the Business Institute. She was then employed by the United States Lighthouse Service. At the end of world War I she met a tall, curly haired Irishman named Matthe w Spillane (no relation to Mickey) and they were married in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Ecorse. The following yearswere busy and happy ones, and the little tax exemptions arrived at regular intervals. Mr. Spillane passed away suddenly and Ethel found herself with a family to raise, so she went to work at the U.S. Army Induction Center. During the man power shortage of World War II she tooka job at the Willow Run bomber plant. She then married John Buboltz whom she had known all her life and they settled down in Riverview at 17538 Matthews. Since her children were all grown up by this time Mrs."B " found herself with more and more time on her hands. She began writing for the Review and was soon made Editor. At one time Mrs. "B" wrote the entire paper single handily though it was a gargantuan project. Though she has not ha d a great deal of formal education one would hardly believe it when reading h er writing. She has a fine mind, a ready wit, and pounds a mean typewriter. Mrs. "B" office is indeed an interesting place..."I veritable paradise for b ook lovers. It is quite obvious that her children are all grown as the jackets are still onthe books though all have been read. many of her books are collectors's items. She has always been a great collector of things, and brought many interesting "items" back from her recent trip to Arizona and New Mexico. She admits that many of her souvenirs were acquired more for sentimental value than anything else, but Mrs. "B" is a sentimental person. Mrs. "B" ha s always been active in community affairs and held offices in the following o rganizations-publicity chairman of theRiverview PTA, publicity chairman for the Riverview Branch of the American Cancer Society, secretary of the United Community Groups, "Release Person" for the American Red Cross Trenton-Rivervi ew Blood Bank, PTA alternate member of the Citizen's Planning Committee and publicity chairman of St. Cyprian's parish. She also taught Catechism to secondgraders at St. Cyprian's for two years, and last year was honored ina " This Is Your Life" presentation by St. Cyprian's Altar Society.
