She was the first child of Ernest and Mattie. The family lived in a big, beautiful house downtown. Iva would l ose her father before she was 14. Her mother would remarry. Iva would become a dental hygienist in Parkersburg. Iva is 8 years old and attending school in the 1910 census of Parkersburg. In 1919 she would marry a young aviator, Dan iel B. Burns. According to the newspaper, Iva was living in Charleston at the time of her marriage. She and Dan would spend two weeks visiting her mother in Parkersburg after the wedding. Iva would have 5 children. The family woul d live in Charleston, W. Va. and in 1927 just before the birth of her fourth child, would move to Detroit, Michigan. In 1931, Iva (pregnant with her 5th c hild), and her children and a family friend, Rosie Adair would drive to Charl eston to see family and then to Parkersburg to see her mother. Her brother, B obbie Bee would visit her in Detroit in the summer. Around 1934, Iva was dia gnose with diabetes. She would be ill for two years. In July 1936, on a very hot day, (200 people died that weekend from the heat), Iva passed away. She left 5 young children behind who would always remember her. Her funeral was h andley by Alfred B. Crosby in Detroit. After her death the family would be s plit up, the boys reuniting in 1938, but her daughter Dorothy, who had been sent back to Charlestonto live with the Ed Bohnert family would stay there. Iva is buried at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Charleston, W. Va.[tap.FTW]
