He died at the ag e or 73. McCager is buried in the Kingery Cemetery, Lawrence Co., OH. (Markw ell) I (HSD)have photos of the gravesites of McCager and Polly. According t o Phyllis Boyd Laborde, author of SAMUEL AND CHLOE FARLEY DILLON AND OTHER FAMILIES, 1979, McCager is buried in the Dillon Cemetery beside his wife. McCager (listed as McCayer)Dillon is listed on p. 35, of the 1840 Lawrence Co. Ce nsus Index. (I have confirmed McCager is in the Kingery Cemetery, HSD). Als o listed is a Samuel Dillon, quite possibly the son of McCager Dillon. Also refer to OH Census, p399, per Billy F. Dillon records, Duncan, OK. "THE DILLONS IN OHIO"(no author) "The most remote know Dillon ancestor is a great-great-grandfather of Edmond Dillon named Samuel Dillon who with wife Mary settled in Franklin County, Virginia (located in the southwest part of th e state). The exact date of their arrival in this country is not known but it is known that a man named Jesse Dillon, born 1749 in Ireland's County Galw ay,also settled in the same county in 1786. It is almost certain Samuel and Jesse must have been related and probably therefore that Samuel arrived in Virginia in the 1780s. Samuel and Mary brought with them a young son named Mi ajah(born in Galway) and the family evidently lived near Rocky Mount, the county seat of Franklin County. Records show that Micajah acted as best man in a wedding in 1813 and his sister, Rebecca, married a man named John Callic oat in 1817. Micajah himself married a woman named Mary Saxton sometime prio r to 1810 and on April 29, 1811 had a son named Samuel after his grandfather. He also had four other sons and three daughters. McCager grew up in Franklin County, VA, and journeyed overland, crossing the Ohio River at Millersport(M illers). He and his family moved out of Franklin County in 1831 and settled i n Windsor Twp., Lawrence County, Ohio, where they bought a tract of land whic h was still wilderness. They cleared the land for farming and worked and rai sed their eight children. They were accompanied by Jesse Dillon, Jr., which is further evidence of the fact that the families of the elder Samueland J esse must have been closely related. Micajah and his family cleared a farm i n Mason Twp., and lived there until his death at age 75 (the exact year of his death is not known)." (received, June 1998, from HenryJ. Miller, Beechw ood Heights, Portsmouth, OH 45662. Henry is a great grandson of John W. Dillon, grandson of McCager Dillon.) I have a copy of an inde nture entered into by McCager and his brother Samuel. It seems that McCager had some financial problems and was questioned by a court offical for a docume nt. I suppose it might be similiar to a modern day bankruptcy. In this document it asks McCager the worth of what hehas given his children. It asked how old is your son Wm?
