a. Note:   Was injured in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII at age 18, with assignment to the hospital from Jan thru Oct. Left the Army only to re-enlist about 2 years later and completed a 22 year career. He subsequently worked for the US Postal Service. He was injured coming home for lunch by a young driver who ran a stop sign. Following surgery, his endotracheal tube was dislodged and he died of brain anoxia.
